The Youth Forum is all about 'Young People Having A Say'. It provides opportunities for young people in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough to have a voice on issues that affect them, and enables them to become actively involved in local decision-making. Young people receive many services, for example, education, youth and leisure facilities, health services, crime and safety services, and developments around the environment and local communities. Decisions are always being made about what these services will be like, whether young people need them and how they can access them. A lot of the time, if young people are involved in helping to make these decisions, these services can be more effective and relevant to what young people need and want. Young people's ideas and opinions are really important in helping to shape the future, in helping to design new services and make existing services work better. Through the Youth Forum, young people can have a say in this decision-making, they can raise their own issues, discuss ideas and put forward suggestions to the 'decision-makers' in the Council, the Health Board, the Police etc. Every voice is important, and every voice is listened to. Young people interested in joining the Youth Forum should: · Be aged 11 – 25 / we also have a Junior Forum for those aged Under 11. · Live in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. · Want to get their voices heard & make a difference. · Want to influence decisions on local services. · Want to meet new people and learn new things. · Want to have fun!
